Anniversary Trip (Part 1)

Steve and I were able to get away for six days last week for our anniversary trip. We left five children with my mom and step dad and one with my sister, Jackie. After dropping them off we drove six hours to Ontario, OR. This next morning we got up early and drove another six hours to Reno, Nevada. If anyone ever complains about us overpopulating the earth again, I'm going to tell them to take a trip down to Southern Oregon and Northern Nevada. It is so desolate! You can drive a couple hundred miles a finally get to a town where the population is 500!

Reno, you ask? Yep, Reno. My hubby has always liked the lights and activity. It's not my favorite place to go. We actually tried to take the family back when we just had three. There was not that much to do there for them. It seemed that I was stuck in the hotel most of the time by myself. So when Steve kept saying he wanted to go back, I told him that I would compromise with him. We would leave the kids and I would go alone with him. It worked out great! It was so relaxing and easy. We connected in a whole new way and realized how much stress the children do cause on our marriage.

The picture above is in front of the Silver Legacy Hotel which is where we stayed. Very pretty hotel right on the strip. We are not big time gamblers, so the casino has no lure for us. We do enjoy the food though and did catch one buffet.
This is outside the Circus Circus tent. This is always where we have stayed in the past. It was nice to have a change.
Since it was a special event in our lives (our 15th anniversary), we saved up the big bucks and got a deluxe spa suite. We both were disappointed in the spa. The spa sounded like a jet engine when it was running. Ridiculously loud! The king-size bed was nice and the bathroom was HUGE!
I'm sitting in the shower that was as big as our whole master bathroom in our house. It actually echoed!

We really didn't worry about the kids that much, but talked about them frequently. By the fourth day we were really missing them. It was hard being away from Lily for that long.

The best part of our trip is we got to see Bill Cosby! He was funny and had clean humor. We both enjoyed his show very much.

Wow! Six days! You guys really did get away didn't you? I'm with you though, I'm really not into all the lights and craziness of Las Vegas or Reno. Still, to be alone with your hubby that long, you guys must've had a great time!

How amazing, Stacie! Sounds like it's exactly what the two of you needed to reconnect and just spend some one-on-one time together. So important!!

Congrats on 15 years! It will be 15 for us near the end of this month for us. No big trip this year though- We'll probably just sneak out for a coffee that evening. I've never stayed in a hotel room like the one you stayed in! A shower as big as a room! Wow!

Congratulations on your 15 wedding anniversary! So glad you got away from it all for awhile. I remember driving across Oregon one time and there are spots when there isn't much of anything, so you better have a good amount of gas in your vehicle!! Thanks for sharing!!Hugs!

You both look so relaxed!!! That is what is was all about wasn't it? Relaxing together to bring back that initial love you had for each other long ago is something we all ought to think about when the kids are a huge distraction. Good for you!

Sounded like you had so much fun! Good for you! You are right - those tub jets can be so noisy it can be rather distracting.
