I have joined a blog party over at Michelle's, "She Looketh Well" blog. She has asked us to introduce ourselves and say why we blog.
I started blogging less than a year and a half ago. I started because it seemed like a great way to encourage woman of all ages. From the start I wanted my blog to be a place where women could go and be encouraged in the Lord in their mothering and homemaking. I also love the fact that the grandparents read the blog. Many live out of town and love to see the children doing their activities. I post lots of pictures because it seems like it brings the blog to life, instead of just words.
I am a firefighter's wife, which puts me in a unique spot. It is a different lifestyle. Hubby is gone a lot and overtime seem to always be abundant. Our marriage has had its ups and downs and we have made it 14 years. My hubby and I have very different personalities which can cause conflict. We are two very imperfect people who have agreed to live together through thick and thin forever. We are committed! God is the glue in our relationship and we can overcome anything because of it.
We have chosen to have a large family. We have six children and most of the time love it. Again, having a large family presents many challenges, but if you multiply the kisses, hugs, and cute sayings, it is all worth it!
I am an identical twin (check my sister, Jackie's blog http://www.homesteadwannabes.blogspot.com/) She is my best friend in the whole world and my accountability partner. I am blessed with many other friends who encourage me in the Lord and help press me towards the goal of godliness.
I used to hate cooking. My poor hubby had to literally teach me how to boil water when he met me. Now, I enjoy it so much. I have become quite creative and make up new recipes I have with the things that I have on hand. I will just about do anything to avoid going to the store with six children! There is also something very satisfying about having meals in the freezer ready to go when I need them.
As I mentioned before, I write devotions for mothers. It is wonderful to be able to share what God is teaching me through this mothering journey. I try to be open and honest about my failings and well as the success that He has given me in my parenting, homeschooling, and being a wife to a firefighter. The best thing about this ministry, is that I get to do it from my home as I'm raising my children.
The above picture is snippets of me. I love to ride our four-wheeler and motorized scooter. Gardening is something I love to do in the spring and in the summer. I love to see color in my yard. Reading is something I really enjoy and Beth Moore Bible studies are a passion of mine. Getting into the Word can be challenging, but it is so refreshing.
May God be glorified in all that I do, including what I put on this blog.
"Show me your way , oh Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long." -Psalm 25:4-5 My Mission for this BLOG is to bring glory to God as I share what He is teaching me as I raise my children for Him. I want to encourage mothers all around the world to hang in there! Motherhood is tough, challenging and gritty. But through Christ's strength and the support of other moms who are in the trenches, I will keep pressing towards the goal to raise Godly children. Please feel free to leave comments. It blesses me so much! You can also email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I am a Stay-At-Home mother of six children. We LOVE having a large family. My first love, is Christ and the Words of the Bible. My passion is to teach my children about the Lord. I love to watch my children discover their own faith in God. My husband has been a firefighter for over 20 years and is now an officer. I am very proud of him. I long to be a Titus 2 woman who encourages other women to love their husbands and children and to thrive in their homes, not just survive.
The noblest calling in the world is that of a mother. True motherhood is the most beautiful of all arts, the greatest of all professions. She who can paint a masterpiece or who can write a book that will influence millions deserves the plaudits and admiration of mankind; but she who rears successfully a family of healthy, beautiful sons and daughters whose immortal souls will be exerting an influence throughout the ages long after paintings shall have faded, and books and statues shall have been destroyed, deserves the highest honor that man can give. -David O. McKay Motherhood is the one thing in all the world which most truly exemplifies the God-given virtues of creating and sacrficing. Though it carries the woman close to the brink of death, motherhood also leads her into the very realm of the fountians of life and makes her co-partner with the Creator in bestowing upon eternal spirits mortal life. -David O McKay We can't form our children on our own concepts; we must take them and love them as God gives them to us. -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe Lo, children are a heritage of the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is his reward. -Psalm 127:3 The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom -Henry Ward Beecher The art of mothering is to teach the art of living to children. -Elaine Heffner People who say they sleep like babies usually don't have them. -Leo J. Burke
To be a mother is a woman's greatest vocation in life. She is a partner with God. No being has a position of such power and influence. She holds in her hands the destiny of nations, for to her comes the responsibility and opportunity of molding the nation's citizens. -Spencer W. Kimball
