Teaching My Boy A Little Manhood

This is Josh, my oldest boy. He just turned 11 years a few weeks back.

I was in the kitchen last night and glanced down at the dog. She was looking at something over by her dog food. I kept looking at the food to see what she was all excited about. Sometimes dogs get weird about flies. I peeked around the corner and screamed when I saw a dead mouse floating in her water! I was not expecting that! Apparently, neither did Snickers!

I knew Steve wasn't home (is he ever when something like this happens?) and I didn't want to deal with it. Dead things just gross me out! I thought to myself that this is a great opportunity to teach my oldest son what it is like to be a man of the house. I called him over and told him that since his dad was gone, he is the man of the house. I told him that I needed him to be brave and take care of the dead mouse for me. I think he grew two inches taller, when he realized that he could do something manly for his mom!

He came back and I explained that he needs to get used to doing these type of things so that when he is married he will be able to take care of his wife. He just gave me this cute little smile!

Great job, Josh! You passed this "manhood" test with flying colors!

So far no mice in our house, my boys, twins; will nearly do each other in, to "save" me from a spider though. They do puff up and seem taller in those momments.

Cute! Am so glad he passed the test - probably allowed all of you a good nights rest. LOL

No way Rachel I dibs him for MaKenna...LoL very good Josh I am so proud of you. We had a big spider hanging off a web at work the other day and my son Daniel (29almost(friday)and 200+ lbs.)and I were jumpin around scaredy cats. We do not like spiders or mice,or lizards(had one of those in store too) but he bucked up and killed it for mom. Good man too.Love you guys.

He did real well! Maybe McKenna can have Marcus? LOL! It sounds like Daniel did real well. I didn't know he was afraid of spiders like his mama.

That is so cute! As Michael always says to me when I get grossed out by dead things, "I can't believe you grew up on a farm". While I remember burying dead cats and chickens and castrating calves, I can't believe I did those things now. I guess when you aren't around it anymore, you get sensitive to it. Good job Josh, for taking car of your mama!

I grew up around a lot of that too but hate when the cats carry dead things around. Guys don't seem to care about that stuff so much. It's cute that he thought he was taking good care of you!

Thank God for our sons. I would have done the same thing. I tell my son all the time that what he does now for me, his wife will thank me later for. ha ha ha
