Perfect Homeschool Field Trip

Have you ever thought of the county fair as being a field trip? Well, if you think about it, it is ideal! You are teaching your children, animal husbandry, commerce, photography, textiles and arts, and it is a cheap petting zoo! Jacob loved the sheep.
Free birthday cake for every one! Right after I took this, Jacob dropped his in the dirt. Bummer!
This is Andrew going down the big slide. Oh, my, if you could have seen how big his eyes got. He was a little scared, but then realized it was pretty fun and even did it again.
We met Margaret in the chicken barn. This was Riley's show chicken that she borrowed. The kids liked petting it.

Well, today we are off on another homeschooling adventure! Mt. St. Helens!!!! I can't wait. We will meet the Chouinards at 9:30 a.m., then go to Portland have lunch at Chuckie Cheese. We are all packed and have told the kids that we are going on a mini-vacation to a surprise destination. They are intrigued, because the only thing we told them is that none of us has ever been there before. I'm looking forward to learning about volcanoes with my children! On the way back, we will be stopping by Fort Vancouver to take a tour. Only $5 per family!

I'll share pics of our "field trips" when we get back. Ta Ta!

You'll love Mt. St. Helens. My kids were so little when we went, but they still talk about it. Have fun!

We are going to our own county fair tomorrow night with grandkids. There will be a talent show in the evening and bbq to partake of for dinner. They are so fun! I'm anxious to hear about the BIG field trip on volcanoes too.

You are right, the fair is the perfect, cheap homeschooling trip. We did ours earlier this month and had a great time.

I can't wait to hear about your St. Helen's trip. Man I wish we could go with you. It is amazing and again a perfect homeschooling field trip. I love that you kept the destination a surprise!
