Good and Angry

This is a start. This book has been amazing and is changing my life and the way I parent. I love the solid Biblical teaching. The spacing is weird on this. Sorry! I will tell you exactly how it is helping with some real life scenarios when I have time. But this is a start for all of you who were wondering.

Good and Angry:

Exchanging Frustration for Character in You and Your Kids

by Dr. Scott Turanskyand Joanne Miller, RN, BSN

What Is Your Anger Telling You?

Parents often feel angry when their children do the wrong things. But responding to children in anger rarely brings about the desired result and can even have a damaging effect instead. Anger doesn’t have to be the enemy. It can be a flag that makes you an even better parent. Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller show you how to use your frustration to identify problems and then move into one of the seven routines to build character in your children.

• LEARN TO PARENT SUCCESSFULLY WITHOUT YELLING

• IMPLEMENT A FIVE-STEP PLAN FOR TEACHING CHILDREN TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS

• HELP YOUR CHILDREN ACCEPT NO AS AN ANSWER

• UNDERSTAND HOW TO DISCIPLINE A CHILD WHO LIES

• LEARN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ATTITUDES AND MOODS AND HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILDREN CHANGE THEM

• AND MORE!

Recognizing the very real emotions parents feel, Good and Angry taps into the constructive side of your anger and teaches new strategies for addressing the things your child does that drive you crazy. This book addresses common problem areas—such as annoying behavior, lying, not following instructions, and bad attitudes—and outlines seven routines that will help your child improve in these areas and, in the process, build both your and your child’s relationship with God.

With uncommon ease and readability, Turansky and Miller communicate solid principles that are both believable and sound.” —Julie Ann Barnhill, author of numerous books including She’s Gonna Blow! This book is revolutionizing my parenting. I can't thank you enough for introducing it to me. I'm watching my child's heart change as well as the behavior! What could be better than that? Can I post this on my blog, too?

This sounds like an amazing book & it's funny too, because Hubs & I have been really talking about anger a lot lately & focusing on not reacting to the kids in anger...but w/ patience. I think this book would be really great for us.

Stacie,

These guys just came for a conference in Charleston this weekend!

I was unable to attend (the time change really messed my little guy up and after church he needed abig nap, not to go tho a parenting conference they probably would have kicked me out of due to his crabbiness!), but really wanted too.

I asked my husband if I could order their *system* (books and the dvd set for us to watch together. He said if I really promise to work the system the right way. So, i have been praying that if this was the right one, God would show me. After reading your review, I scrolled to see who wrote it and was floored to see these people!

So, I do beleive God is saying get this book!!!

Thanks and I am glad to see you back.
