Jessica's Turn

Here are our slightly ugly, but yummy chocolate-covered strawberries. The kids devoured them, even Jacob. Josh hated them, though.
I think Jess might be a nurse when she grows up. She insisted on giving Jacob his antibiotics. She did a terrific job, too.

I've just looked at all your new blogs. Your kids are always darling, of course. I love it that Jessica may be a nurse because my sister Margy and my mom are both nurses.

About the chocolate: I melt and smooth it up in the microwave. You do have to be careful not to get it too hot, especially not to boil. You know my dad was an especially skilled truffle maker. And he made turtles. I could send you a recipe for easy turtle or mounds bars if anyone there likes coconut.

They were yummy also. We appreciated you sharing them with us. I am always amazed with how much you can get posted in one day. Wow.

So if little Jessica were a boy...of course you would think that he may just be a nurse too?

Perhaps seeing Jessica as an individual without stereotypes and boundaries would free her to be the best person she can be. Jessica can be a doctor too.

You know that if she were a boy, you would have commented on the great doctor she/he would become.

You owe it to your daughter to examine your own prejudices, eliminate them and present her with a complete array of life choices.

Clearly she is a bright caring little girl who takes initiative.

Best wishes to you both.

Wow, I knew I would get a negative comment someday, but I wasn't expecting to be asked to examine my own prejudices.

My daughter actually would like to be a "Cop-Girl" more than anything, or a firefighter like her dad. We want to encourage her to do whatever God has for her. We will be proud of her whether she chooses to be a stay-at-mom, a nurse, doctor, police officer, lawyer, firefighter, ect. The possibilities are endless in the world that she lives in.
